    Wow amazing!

Quad core on the low end and a decent gpu.

    I'm in.

I thought they would nerf the gpu if they went quad on the low end.

Some Apple patents are just "out there" and don't sound useful in practice. I never expect to see them in a product.

But THIS sounds actually very useful--the problem of whether a keyboard hogs the screen or not is solved, etc. etc.

Apple's hiring says they're serious about touch computing. For an iPod? For a Mac? And when? I can't wait to find out!

Not a single analyst has explained WHY this would be better for Apple than simply selling more Apple TVs. They just say it like it makes sense and expect us to believe them.

I'm sorry, but that's not good enough.

WHY would Apple want to take on shipments of large, expensive packages?

WHY would Apple want to limit their market for a new product to people who want an entirely new TV?

WHY do you think Apple cares more about what logo is on the back of the TV that by what software is showing up on the screen?

And WHY isn't the Apple TV good enough for the goal of getting the iOS and iTunes worlds into the living room?

I think the changes to the latest Apple TV is a sign of where Apple wants to be headed. The next Apple TV will be even smaller and come free when you buy a Mac, iPad, or iPhone. Wait and see! Just like giving e-mail away helps Google's ecosystem, so does getting Apple TVs into people's houses help Apple's ecosystem.

Selling some $2,000 TV doesn't help with that.

I'd agree that it doesn't make much sense. But that doesn't mean I think Apple will never do it! Apple (i.e. Jobs?) are obsessed with controlling the entire user-experience, and as such might love to add their own HDTV to complete the solution.

There's a lot of potential to add a lot more integration between TV and Mac/PC. Typically this has just been "PC as a video/audio source for the TV", but you could add on-screen notifications/messages even while watching other sources (such as cable), far better TV-based browsers, faster & better looking TV-guides etc.

Yes there is a lot of competition out there, but Apple are quite good at taking on a "commodity" low-margin market and adding value to it and thriving. And I'd love to see the design they come up with.

ooo come on kiddo :) may be you should advice steve jobs on how to run a company... the guy has only turned apple from bankruptcy to one of the biggest and most admired companies in the world today. but he surely doesnt have a clue of what he is doing :)

lol, I think you missed his sarcasm to inject your own.

"Q on Mac Pro demand. A: Very positive reaction to Mac Pro. Still feel there is a delay in purchasing related to Creative Suite (Universal)"

They said the same thing about pro desktop sales when we were waiting on a carbon version from Adobe. Then, it was released and Pro sales didn't increase. Too bad you can't put Xeon in a MBP :P

I think this is different. Our company is not buying any Intel-based macs until Adobe releases Universal CS, and I don't know why anyone would spend $$ on new hardwre now only to take a performance hit, vs. a performance increase and better hardware bang for the buck by waiting 6-9 months.

Its been my observation that most of the prices on existing content was increased to 1.29. I don't have hard number to back this up, just my observation that most of the content was bumped to the higher price point from being at 0.99 before.

It's based on demand. If it's still popular its more expensive - no matter how old it is.

I hope the mission was to capture Bin Laden, not kill him. If he had to be shot because he was fighting back or something then fair enough, but I hope the plan was to capture if possible.

Ideally, I would have liked to have seen him in front of the International Criminal Court for crimes against humanity. That would have been a victory to be proud of.

I'd be highly skeptical if Apple will introduce LTE compatable chips even in 2012. Usually Apple takes it's time to implement technologies that all other phone makers in the market have implemented. They focus on ease of use and to the point where you don't even notice the technology (et. al. there latest iPad 2 commercial) They'll probably delay any LTE implementation until 2013.

How do you "notice the 4G technology" on current 4G phone? It just works. Jeez...give me a break here with just canned statements.

If you look at the "big picture" it makes sense. The iPod is in decline, so Apple's previous big Fall music event isn't really big anymore. The iPhone could shore that up and bring lots of sales to 4Q and maybe even, reinvigorate iPod sales.

This. Jobs spent half of last September's event talking about 4.1 and 4.2 anyway; the iPhone is the next logical step.

Really? I love the whole Inspector idea and the side toolbar in Word type thing.

Well, I guess these kinds of things are preferential. Perhaps I'm more used to Micro$oft Office toolbars.

Anyhow, I find myself using Pages more often. I'll just tell my boss to buy a Mac Mini if he wants to read my documents. :D

If Apple does come out with a spreadsheet, it better be more usable than what one can get currently on Pages. One major omission is that one cannot create a graph directly from a table (you have to 'cut and paste').

I kind of feel like they are releasing this now so that they have something to hold everyone over for the iPhone 5. It is possible that Apple is going to release the iPhone 5 late in the year or early 2012 so the next one can be LTE. We all know how Apple likes to take there time adopting new technology. *cough* no 3g in 1st gen iPhone *cough* ;)
